National media will be focused on this storm while The Weather Channel sets up a home base at Northstar-at-Tahoe with a cozy van and satellite dish for live shots of The Big One.
Their team will be based out of Northstar Resort through the entire
weekend. Their live shots will be seen on The
Weather Channel nationwide two times a day. (And then they'll be taking some freshies, on us)
We will keep you posted and are talking in meetings about posting video on the home page updated every 4-6 hours during The Big One. Please give us comments if you would like video coverage during the storm and if so, what would you like to see?
Thanks and stay tuned People!
Any predictions on how much of the mountain will be open tommorow?? I am about to get in the car and drive up tonight, but the thought of wind holds scares me.. Which lifts are most likely to be held?

Hi, I have been hearing that there is a high chance that I-80 E might be closed on friday night to saturday mid-day because of the storm. The message boards also say that some of the resorts might be closed as well. Is there any chance that Northstar might be closed on Saturday and Sunday because of the storm???

Dude, this is Northstar. I can't promise exactly what's going to happen, but we are numero uno when it comes to a resort with very few wind holds.

Storm videos would be great. Here are a few ideas:
o Village--ice rink area
o View from inside Gondola on way up (maybe through open window for clear view), plus guests unloading at the top
o Mid-mountain--lodge & lifts, lower mainstreet
o Summit--lodge, lifts
o Arrow/Comstock--views from chairlift on way up
o Backside--Burnout top, bottom, & view from chairlift on way up
o Lookout Mtn--top, bottom, & view from chairlift on way up
o Now may be a great time to compare the wind velocity and storm intensity on the Backside vs. more protected Lookout Mtn or even Luggi's/Upper Mainstreet
o Riders tearing it up on the terrain parks--even in a blizzard
o The Stash in use
o Fresh powder in the trees
o Buses operating in drop zone circle
o Guest comments about the overall experience--especially regarding skiing/riding in fresh powder
Maybe you'll find some of these useful. Thanks for the opportunity to contribute.
