Gotta Love It!

Have you been up here recently?  Over 32 inches of cold light powder has fallen in the last 7 days and more is on the way!  I really hoped you are hyped about all this recent snow and what is in the forecast, I know I am.  All I have to say is, “Lookout Mountain,” is awesome!  If you are a powder lover, I would suggest heading over to Lookout Link around 8:45 for first tracks, you’ll thank me later. Another 10 to 16 inches of snow is expected to drop by Saturday morning, so I hope your weekend plans involve heading up to Northstar for some amazing powder skiing.  Just be mindful that the roads might be a little hazardous, so do everyone a favor and slow down a bit on your commute so we can all get up here and enjoy the snow.  I also recommend checking out Deep Powder Safety tips for a few helpful hints when riding the deep stuff.  Check back, I’ll have an update for you later this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Winter Is Back With A Bang!

13” in the last 12 hours and at the moment it is looking like there is no end to the storm activity in sight!  There will be a little break tomorrow, so if you like the groomers, the trails will be soft and loaded with some super fresh corduroy for your enjoyment.   In case you are wondering about possible snow totals we are looking at; Wednesday 6-12 inches, a couple more inches Thursday, then 8-12 on Friday.  I don’t want to speculate much farther than a few days out, but look forward to relatively the same weather patterns through Monday.  Honestly, right now the storm systems are stacked up all the way through the end of February, of course that can change but isn’t looking that way right now.  I took a few clips today but it is still formatting so you'll have to wait until tomorrow, nothing special but I think you’ll get a good visual of how things are looking.  Check back, I really hope you get a chance to get up here sometime this week, trust me it’ll be worth it.

I Sure Do Love Snow!

Recent snowfall has blanketed Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort and it is not over yet.  We are expecting up to a foot of fresh snow tonight with more scattered snow showers throughout the week.  Finally, some fresh powder turns!  Accumulation totals for the week are a little hard to tell right now, don’t worry I will keep a close eye on the storm activity, just keep checking back.  The Dew Tour is almost here, I hope you plan on coming up to check out some of the world’s best riders duking it out for some of that 1.2 million dollar prize purse.  If you can’t make it, be sure to check the blog as I plan to get continual coverage for the event.  It should make for some pretty entertaining videos during that weekend.  Hopefully the powder trend will continue so we can all get out and make some fresh turns, I know I’ll be out there everyday.  I took a few clips around the mountain in case you weren’t able to make it up here this weekend, nothing special just gives you an idea how things are looking up here.

It is Snowing at Northstar!

The storm has finally hit, and we already have a couple of inches of new snow at the summit. We’re expecting another 2 to 4 inches of freshies throughout the day with more snow forecasted through Wednesday! We could have close to a foot of new snow by tomorrow morning, so get up here and get in some fresh turns. The conditions up here are going to be awesome these next few days. I’ll keep you posted on current weather and snow accumulation updates, so make sure to check back often and have fun out there!

Have You Played in The Terrain Parks Lately?

I mean wow!  The Terrain Park Crew has really been killing it as of late, you almost need a calculator to count all the features they currently have set up.  The Pinball line alone is incredible, it is set up great for any park-enthusiast to go out and get their groove on.  Remember we have the final stop for the Dew Tour coming up on February 19th and will continue through the 22nd.  You should come check it out there will be some of the best riders in the world competing for some of that 1.2 million dollar prize purse.  The picture is of my buddy Matty killing it on the jumps, the photo was taken by Eric Olsen.     Snow is expected to start falling today and continue throughout the weekend, with the possibility of 1 to 2 feet by Monday morning!  Chance of snow showers is forecasted on and off throughout the week, we won’t know for sure how much accumulation until this first system shows it’s face.  If your planning a weekend trip, this seems like a good time to do so with a little bit of freshies awaiting you at Northstar Resort.  Our monster Superpipe is now open and ready to be ridden, so sharpen those edges a bit and get ready to launch out of those 17 foot walls!  I will try to get a few riders showing how it is done in the pip by this weekend.  Gotta go, the snow out on the hill is too nice to be sitting inside working.  A video is on the way, so check back at the end of the day!
