Ready, Set, Go........

Tap you feet, shake it to the beat, here comes a powder streak!  Bone chilling temperatures have made their way in the Tahoe Region, followed by a weather system expected to drop multiple feet of snow by Friday!  You’ll notice the skies becoming increasingly cloudy today, and then like a knockout punch, snow will start falling rapidly  this afternoon and through tomorrow.  You can anticipate 2 to 3 feet by Monday night, with another storm right on it’s heals expected to show it’s face on Wednesday.  Check out the weather conditions for the latest and most up to date information.

 

 

Today was our opening day last season with only 3 lifts turning 4 trails, check out the difference in Mother Nature’s attitude so far this year.  A world of difference!  As of right now, we are open "top to bottom and front to back," with 10 lifts turning and 15 trails.  On top of that, the Terrain Park is already at Base Camp(which is Pinball), and the trail coverage between this season and last is like, “Night and Day!”  If this weather rolls in like predicted, I foresee Lookout Mountain opening very soon.  I’ve worked here for 6 years and have not seen Lookout open before Christmas, this season I would bet we are skiing over there by December 20^th, maybe earlier. 

What are your season snowfall total predictions?  I guessed 470 inches, our annual average is only 350 inches.  Last season we reached the 401 mark.  I plan on giving a lift ticket for next season to the person who guesses the closest on closing day.  What is your prediction?

Old Man Winter Expected To Spread The Holiday Cheer!

Snow is forecasted late this morning and could potentially snow throughout the week with significant accumulation.  On top of the storms, the cold temperatures have been cooperating, allow us to make snow like there is no tomorrow.  Today we are officially open top to bottom, and front to back with the grand opening of the Backside and Tahoe Zephyr Express Chairlifts!  Oh yeah……

My suggestion for skiing and riding the next few days is to start on the Tahoe Zephyr Express Chairlift and rip down Pioneer a couple of times.  After that, cruise over to Burnout on The Backside, and take a few laps back there, then I would definitely recommend the Taco Bar at the Summit for lunch.  If you like the Terrain Parks as much as I do then head over to Pinball and check out the new line of features.  I took the picture of The Village at Northstar early this morning.

Old Man Winter Is Coming Back!

Once again, the weather forecast is becoming more and more favorable!  We are anticipating cooler temperatures and more moisture than originally predicted.  There is a potential for snow all throughout next week, how much accumulation is still to tell.  Our Weatherman, B.A has a great weather forecast if you want the full enchilada.  

 

Have you heared the rumor?  The opening of Backside Express and Tahoe Zephry is looking very promising for Saturday!  Weather and conditions permitting of course.  I’ll have another more in-depth update for you later, I got to head our for a few laps first.
